Overview
The Slingshot app is a next generation decentralized application (dApp) that empowers the community to back their favorite games and earn their share of rewards and ownership.
The Slingshot dApp has been built with the latest technology, to offer the most seamless experience for web2 and web3 users alike.
Features
One-click social login
Seamless MPC wallet provisioning
Gasless near-instant transactions
Instant bridging (L2 <> L3)
Slingshot showcase
Locking $SLING

Idea submission
On-chain governance
One-click Social Login
Slingshot has partnered with Web3Auth to provide seamless one click social login for all users. This allows everyone, with or without web3 experience, to signup and get started with the Slingshot dApp.
Upon logging in, the user is provisioned with a self-custody MPC wallet that allows them to seamlessly interact with the Slingshot dApp whilst retaining sovereignty of their wallet.
You can read more about the MPC wallets below.
Gasless Near-instant Transactions
Slingshot is deployed on it's own dedicated Arbitrum Orbit Layer 3 chain. On this chain $SLING is also the native gas token.
This allows for incredibly fast and cost-effective transactions, with good security guarantees, ultimately rolling up to the Ethereum mainnet (layer 1).
Transactions are so cheap, Slingshot sponsors the gas payments for all transactions on its layer 3 chain.
This allows users to interact with Slingshot, without needing to worry about slow transactions or gas fees.
You can read more about the Slingshot layer 3 chain below.
Instant Bridging
Slingshot utilizes both MPC wallet technology and ERC-4337 Smart Account technology, to allow instant bridging across Arbitrum One (Layer 2) and the Slingshot Orbit chain (Layer 3).
Users can deposit $SLING to an address on Arbitrum One and near-instantly bridge these tokens to the Slingshot Chain (and vice versa).
This minimizes the onboarding friction of users into the Slingshot ecosystem and means new users can get up and running in a matter of seconds.
Learn more about depositing and withdrawing $SLING below.
Locking $SLING
Locking $SLING and gaining power is central to the Slingshot ecosystem.
To gain power and interact with the ecosystem, users need to lock their $SLING. The greater amount of $SLING locked and the longer it is locked for, the more power you get.
This power is then used in the dApp to vote for upcoming video game ideas.
The more power an idea receives from votes, the more likely it is to win and be put into production.
The more power you have also influences how much reward you earn from your participation.
You can read more in depth about locking $SLING and the locking calculations below.
Voting
One of the core features of Slingshot is the ability to bet on the next big video games, by choosing to vote for them in the Slingshot showcase.
The Slingshot showcase is full of video game ideas and demos, put forward by the talented creators in the community.
If an idea in the showcase accumulates enough votes (power), then it will receive funding and is put into production.
When that game is then published, it is owned by the DAO and all of the revenue it creates flows back to the community.
You can read more in depth about voting and the Slingshot showcase below.
Claiming Rewards
The Slingshot ecosystem rewards all participants. Everyone who submits an idea, votes or helps develop games earns rewards.
These rewards can be easily claimed from within the Slingshot dApp.
Simply by looking through the showcase and voting for the games you think have the greatest chance of becoming a successful hit, you can earn substantial reward, derived from your share of the total voting power.
Check out the Rewards section for a more in depth dive into the reward calculations.
Idea Submission
Slingshot's showcase of upcoming hit games is powered by game jams and idea submissions from talented creatives and gamers.
You can submit an idea, for free, easily within the Slingshot dApp.
You idea will then be reviewed, and if accepted, added to the Slingshot showcase for members to vote for.
On-chain Governance
Finally, the Slingshot dApp supports on-chain governance for Slingshot DAO.
This allows for permissionless, seamless voting, with the same native experience that users have with the rest of Slingshot interactions.
